Nestled in the heart of Covent Garden, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane has survived tragedy, fire, bankruptcy & even murder

Please note due to scheduling conflicts, Theatre Tours are currently off sale.

Join us on a magical journey through theatrical history at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the oldest theatre on the same site in the world.

Immerse yourself in the birthplace of the musical, modern pantomime, moving scenery, regular rehearsals and naturalistic acting, in our beautifully renovated theatre.

Discover the origins of theatrical terms such as Crew, Props and Box Office, as our expert actors entertain you with stories of stars, innovation, Royal scandal and even murder. Who knows, you may even get to see one of Drury Lane’s famous ghosts!

Guided tours are in English and last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. There are 20 spaces available per tour. Sometimes we'll need to change the route due to other events taking place in the building.

Please note this is a walking tour with numerous steps and backstage areas, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Theatre Royal Drury Lane is also a working theatre so the tour route may vary. With a few exceptions, this tour will not take you to backstage areas due to security restrictions.

With two royal boxes, and four comprehensive reconstructions, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane certainly has a colourful story to tell. To continue its legacy, the ambitious £60 million project to restore and reimagine The Lane for the modern day is ready to be revealed and welcome everyone.
